Look who came back in a relatively reasonable amount of time…
In case you’ve missed it, the “Great ASB Elevator Debacle of 2015” may be coming to an end shortly… According to our property manager, Kendall Doi, the elevator should be fixed by this Friday October 2nd. For those out there keeping track, it has been a FULL FIVE WEEKS that the elevator has been broken. During this time, I took to Twitter to complain about our broken elevator and was told to “cease and desist” from what they called “libelous” statements on Twitter regarding the elevator (oh yeah, cheap plug… follow me on @kahaleola to see these “libelous” tweets). They were willing to take me to court if I didn’t do so… No, seriously, they were threatening me…
It really is difficult for a small (or micro) business to stay in business when large corporations or entities don’t seem to care about us. We are just tenants, no, account numbers to these people; no power whatsoever… Let me tell you how…
I pay CAM (community area maintenance) fees with my rent. That’s to pay for things that break, “advertising”, and whatever other “maintenance” in and around the building. With the elevator being broken, I lost revenue from clients that couldn’t or didn’t want to make it up the stairs because they were in pain or for whatever reason… completely valid, and I totally agree. I will not recoup those losses. So I lose money because the elevator was out for 5 weeks, but I will now have to pay a higher CAM, because of something that needed to be fixed… AND I’m pretty confident we will not get any relief from our rent this month. So who wins?
Pearlridge and Glimcher, that’s who
And I have to take it… and like it…
From the bottom of my heart (or whereever my feels come from, since some people think I’m a heartless asshole), I appreciated all the people that had to walk up the stairs for their appointments.
You are awesome.
You really are.
My clients are the reason why I love what I do. Their stories, their words of encouragement, their funny jokes. They are awesome. I know some of you read this, so THANK YOU!!!
So yeah… hopefully the elevator is working the next time you come in…
